Welcome to my practice
I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders, depression, life transitions, loss, grief, troubled self-esteem, trauma, and relationship issues. I work with adults, couples, families, children, and adolescents. My advanced training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy has given me insight into how the past can influence the present. I like to work in the “here and now,” creating a more connected, purposeful, and stress-free life for my clients. As a lifelong tennis player and coach, I also enjoy working with athletes.
If this resonates with you, I invite you to reach out for a free consultation.
The act of revealing oneself fully to another and still being accepted may be the major vehicle of therapeutic change
IRVIN D. YALOM
My Professional Background
I am a licensed clinical psychologist providing psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. I earned my Psy.D. at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles and also have a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Cincinnati. I completed my practicum internship at Vista Del Mar Child and Adolescent Outpatient Center, and I completed my pre-doctoral and post-doctoral internship training at the Wright Institute Los Angeles (WILA) where I earned a certificate in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
Prior to becoming a psychologist, I taught philosophy at various universities and high school English most recently at Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences in Santa Monica.
My theoretical orientation and treatment modalities consist primarily of psychoanalytic/psychodynamic and humanistic/existential psychotherapy. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is central to positive growth and healing, and I seek to provide an accepting and compassionate environment where people feel seen and heard.
